The Planetarium (Adelaide-Australia)

  • Adelaide Symphony Orchestra - Grainger Studio 91 Hindley Street Adelaide, SA, 5000 Australia (map)

Internationally renowned Artists By Any Other Name presents their original production “The Planetarium”. The production is inspired by Roman mythology of the planets and characteristics of the solar system. It will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

The performance is a culmination of the Young Artist Exchange annual Creative Experiences workshop. The workshop strives to foster a sense of global citizenship through the performing arts. Teaching-artists together with students perform music and dance to masterworks of the string quartet repertoire (including works by Beethoven, Haydn, and Borodin).

Artists By Any Other Name is the ensemble-in-residence for Young Artist Exchange. They are an New York City based interdisciplinary ensemble that endeavors to realize a contemporary function for classical music by encouraging its symbiosis with contemporary dance. Through live performance in a variety of spaces, they communicate relevant themes to illustrate the worlds around and within us.

The program includes selections from:

  • Beethoven String Quartet op. 18/1 and op. 18/4

  • Haydn String Quartet op. 76/6
